Australian Financial Review Business Summit 2018

On Wednesday March 7, Dr. John Bruni, Founder & CEO of SIA flew to Sydney to attend Day 2 of the AFR Business Summit held at Sydney’s International Convention Centre (ICC) at Darling Harbour. Keynote Speaker for Day 2 was Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull.

During the sessions, Dr. Bruni attended Stream 2: Disruptive Technologies and the New Paradigm Shift. Keynote Address was by Professor Michelle Simmons, Director Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computing UNSW and 2018 Australian of the Year. Noting that most of the business people in the audience had no idea about quantum computing, save for the fact that it was an emerging revolutionary technology that should be supported by business interests, Dr. Bruni asked Professor Simmons to give a brief account on how inherently chaotic quantum particles can be harnessed to produce non-chaotic, real-world outcomes. The answer was…scientific.

And the best way to wrap up an otherwise excellent day was Dr. Bruni’s catch-up with longtime friend and colleague whom he worked with in Abu Dhabi at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR), now working for the AFR, Mr. Mohamad Jourieh.
