In May of 2018, CDRE Patrick J. Tyrrell OBE RN (Ret’d), Chair of the SIA Advisory Board & SIA Senior Non Resident Fellow Global & Maritime Security and Dr. John Bruni CEO of SIA were privileged to have been invited by the MAST organisation to put together an Advanced Workshop on Disruptive Technology in the Maritime Domain in Portsmouth, the UK.

Held in Portsmouth’s imposing Guild Hall, the workshop covered a variety of topics dealing with how maritime security is being radically altered by the introduction of novel technologies.

This White Paper, edited by Bruni & Tyrrell, with Foreword by Britain’s Admiral Sir George Zambellas GCB DSC DL FRAeS & Australia’s Rear Admiral Simon Cullen AM CSC RAN (Ret’d), captures the essence of the discussions which include contributions from some of the leading minds on technology, naval history, naval operations and defence industry. This workshop was supported by Thales.
